The Donnington string quartet provides live music for all occasions and tastes. Based in the Thames Valley (Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, it adds a special dimension to weddings, birthdays, anniversaries or corporate events.

How far are you prepared to travel?
We normally play within the Thames Valley area. We are always happy to consider requests for playing at events further afield but the outcome will depend on the availability of our members and reaching agreement with the hirer on an appropriate travel allowance.
Do I have to choose everything you play?
No. You can leave the details of the programme entirely to us if you wish with perhaps some guidance as to the type of music required (e.g. Classical, easy listening or a mixture of styles).
Can you only play the pieces on your repertoire list?
No. As professional musicians we can play almost anything you want providing that it can be arranged for string quartet. The list merely indicates the music we currently have available.
We especially want a certain piece. Will that be possible?
We pride ourselves on being able to provide the music you would like. However, if a quartet arrangement is not readily available then we either have to find one or make our own arrangement. This takes time and so it is especially important that we have the details of any special requests at least a month in advance of your event.
There will young children present. Can you play something especially for them?
Certainly. If you look in our repertoire you will see that it includes a number of children’s favourites including the themes from Postman Pat and Thomas the Tank Engine and this is a good way to make this age group feel an important part of your event. If you want a particular piece or theme for the children at your function then we will do our best to provide it provided we are given at least a month’s notice.
What happens if one of your players falls ill?
If one of us is unable to play for any reason, we will always provide a substitute at the same professional standard.
Can I hear you play before I decide to make a booking?
There are opportunities to hear us live at wedding fayres where we perform throughout

We do not ask for a deposit. However, if it is helpful for you, we are more than happy to accept payment before the day.
How far ahead should I make the booking?
As soon as you can to avoid disappointment. We often take bookings some considerable time in advance.
Can I discuss what I want before making a booking?
This is always advisable. You can then be sure that we are available and know what the overall cost will be. It is also an opportunity to discuss any special requirements you may have.
